Aaron McDermid and State Farm Insurance have donated $1,000 to the Feed AJUSD Children program.

One $500 check came from Mr. McDermid’s State Farm agency and the other $500 came from the State Farm corporate headquarters.

Mr. McDermid learned about Feed AJUSD Children program at a recent Rotary Club meeting from Dr. Krista Anderson, Apache Junction Unified School District superintendent; and Apache Junction City Manager Bryant Powell.

“This seemed like a real need and something local that I know can make an impact,” Mr. McDermid said. “It struck me as a very worthy thing to do.”

He works and lives near the Mesa/Apache Junction border and is active in both the Rotary and the Superstition Mountain Chamber of Commerce.

The Feed AJUSD Children provides healthy breakfast and lunch items to district children who are in households where hunger or food insecurity is present. Food insecurity is defined as when a household does not have the ability to consistently provide enough food for every person in a household to live an active healthy life, the release states.

For additional information, or to make a donation, contact Karen Warhus, AJUSD food service director, at 480-982-1110 ext. 2201 or email kwarhus@goaj.org.
