MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - A local church is going the extra mile in order to feed the community.
Greenhill Baptist Church located at 1240 hwy 510 in Shubuta held a drive-thru lunch to help feed hundreds of families in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. The church served about 300 free meals to the community. The organizers of the church said they have been preparing this act of service for a month and are planning to do this again soon.
“We want to be a church on a mission. It doesn’t make sense together on Sunday and do nothing throughout the week. We want to take this opportunity to be a blessing to those who need it. We are here and whoever comes to this line will get fit today,” said Pastor Terrance Burrell.
Pastor Burrell said the church is trying to follow Christ’s commandment to feed the hungry.
