Feed The Frontlines NYC was launched by Luca Di Pietro, the founder of Tarallucci e Vino on 83rd and Columbus Avenue. It began as a way to feed hospital workers while keeping restaurants in business. More recently, the initiative expanded to help cure food insecurity among those who have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Now, the organization is putting a virtual comedy show together for that same purpose.

Feed the Frontlines NYC, Comedy Cloud and Aruba Ray’s Comedy have announced a virtual comedy show on Thursday, June 25th at 8pm, to support Feed the Frontlines’ efforts to nourish New Yorkers experiencing food insecurity and keep restaurant workers on the job.

“We’re so grateful to these comedians for helping us to continue to feed New Yorkers in need,” said Feed the Frontlines co-founder Isabella Di Pietro. “We could all use a laugh right now – and in this case, your laughter will translate into comforting, delicious meals too.”

The ranks of New Yorkers experiencing food insecurity has risen from 1.2 to 2 million due to the economic turmoil of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The comedy fundraiser also offers comedians, who have been hard-hit by the pandemic due to cancelled performances and gatherings, the opportunity to share their talents with a widespread audience. “It feels amazing to be able to bring some joy to people’s homes during these challenging times,” said Ray Ellin, the show’s host and founder of Aruba Ray’s Comedy. “I’ve discovered it’s possible to really connect with people and move them by adjusting the comedy to the platform. I’m happy seeing people happy; it’s cathartic for all of us. And comedians have been hard-hit by the pandemic, and have lost all performances. So we’re thrilled to share our talents, particularly for such an outstanding and important cause.”

Feed the Frontlines NYC is a grassroots organization that provides free, delicious meals to New Yorkers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. FtF began by serving NYC health care professionals during the pandemic’s peak, and now primarily serves vulnerable New Yorkers facing food insecurity. Feed the Frontlines has delivered over 115,000 meals across over 80 healthcare facilities, shelters and supportive housing residences while bringing over 100 restaurant employees back to work.

ComedyCloud.co produces live interactive content for corporations and charities, boosting employee morale, connecting people, and creating an unforgettable bonding experience.

Aruba Ray’s Comedy is the number one rated Nightlife experience on the island of Aruba, featuring top US comedians performing live 100 nights per year. Post-COVID, Aruba Ray’s has been bringing performers into homes live, online every Friday night at 8pm EST, including TV, film and music stars.

Performers will include:

  • Ray Ellin, Executive Producer of Comedy Central’s “This Week at the Comedy Cellar”
  • Ophira Eisenberg, host of NPR’s “Ask Me Another”
  • Chuck Nice, featured on the Today Show, VH1 and TruTV
  • Tom Cotter, runner-up on season seven of America’s Got Talent
