NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Tarleton allowed five Stephen F. Austin runs in the second inning on the way to a 10-5 loss at Jaycees Field on Friday evening.
The Texans (9-15, 5-5 WAC) struck first, with Alec Williams leading the game off with a solo home run that the Lumberjack (6-18, 2-8 WAC) right fielder Cameron Crawford helped over the fence.
The lead did not last long as SFA scored seven runs across the next three innings while holding Tarleton scoreless to take a 10-1 lead that deflated the Texans' chances.Did you expect anything else?

Dillon Eatman and Jake Zarrello paved the way for the 'Jacks with three RBI each.
Tarleton starting pitcher Luke Baley (1-2) was credited with the loss. He exited the game in the second inning after giving up seven runs (six earned) on three hits. Zach Poe came in and got three outs allowing no hits to get the Texans out of the inning.
Freshmen Kyler Mentzel pitched the next 3.0 innings allowing three runs on four hits, striking out four.
The best performance for Tarleton on the mound though came from Devon Patel. In his third appearance of the season he spun three scoreless, hitless innings in the final three frames of the game. He struck out two and walked none.
The Texans' runs came too little too late as they plated two runs each in the sixth and seventh innings.
Taylor Daniell and Jaime Perez hit RBI singles in the sixth to make it a 10-3 deficit. In the seventh, Dylan Kurahashi-Choy Foo sent a two-run home run out to the parking lot behind left field to score Williams and make it 10-5.
SFA starting pitcher Joe Todd (1-3) earned the win as he pitched 6.0 innings allowing three runs on seven hits, striking out six. SFA closer Brooks Caple entered in the ninth and induced two strikeouts and an infield pop-up to end the game. The two-run shot from Choy Foo cuts the SFA lead to 5!@dylankcf28 | #RideWithUs pic.twitter.com/skQ2CKrNNS
