WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Senior Adrien Dumont de Chassart held off a hard charge by host Purdue's Cole Bradley to secure medalist honors by a single stroke while leading the No. 21-ranked Fighting Illini to the team title on Sunday at the Boilermaker Invitational at Ackerman-Allen Golf Course.

"This was a solid team effort," head coach Mike Small said. "The guys weren't fazed by the tough, cold conditions at the start of the tournament. Then today, when we were going head-to-head with a good team on their home course, and to withstand the difficult conditions again, and then to close solidly, is a mindset that we have talked about embracing and becoming a habit."

The win marks the third-career collegiate victory for Dumont de Chassart and his first since claiming the co-medalist honors at the 2019 Big Ten Championship. He becomes the sixth Illini medalist all-time at the Boilermaker Invitational - extending Illinois' tournament record. The team win marks the second of the season for the program, after tying for top honors at Indiana's Hoosier Intercollegiate to open the schedule in September, and gives the Illini five wins at the Boilermaker Invitational since 2009 - also an event record.

Behind Dumont de Chassart's win, which included rounds of 69 and 65 on Saturday before closing with a 1-under 70 on Sunday, three other Illini – senior Tommy Kuhl, freshman Jackson Buchanan and sophomore Piercen Hunt – recorded top-10 scores.

Kuhl climbed three spots over the final 18 holes to secure his fourth-career top-five finish with a 1-under 70 on Sunday, but the team's biggest mover was Buchanan who ascended six spots to notch his first top-five with a team-low 69 (-2) in Round 3. Buchanan's three-round total of 212 matched a career-low set earlier this spring at Arizona's N.I.T. Hunt rounded out the scoring for the Illini with a 1-over 71 to tally his fourth top-10 of the season with a 54-hole total of 215 (+2).

"It was a good team win," added Small. "To have that many guys finish in the top-10, that's solid. Adrien played from strength from start to finish, and made a great save on the last hole for the win. Jackson played bogey-free today which - for a young player in these conditions and on that golf course - was something to be proud of. And Tommy and Piercen played well. It was a team effort and we showed a lot of grit and some grind coming in, which you have to show in team golf."

Illini junior Jerry Ji tied for 37th overall with three straight rounds of 75 to finish 12-over, while individuals Nico Lang (227) and Luke Armbrust (229) finished 44th and tied for 47th, respectively.

As a team, the Illini entered the final round with a one stroke lead over host and No. 31-ranked Purdue, but outshot the Boilermakers by seven strokes over the final 18 to secure the win by eight shots. Eastern Michigan (+25) finished 35 off the Illini's pace in third, followed by Illinois State (+26) and Rutgers (+26) to round out the top five of the team standings.
