CHADWICKS — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County will host a free discussion for dairy producers and dairy nutritionists on storing and managing feed crops from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 12 at Collins Knoll Farm at 9499 Elm St. in Chadwicks.
“The Dairy Forage Harvest 2020: Let’s Talk Feed Out Management” will have two guest speakers, Tony Hall and John Brouillette, from Lallemand Animal Nutrition addressing forage quality assessment tools, why it is important to run those forage analyses; fermentation interference and tips to diagnose failed fermentation issues and the importance of a consistent feed out strategy.
Managing top and shoulder feed waste as well as navigating variations in packing density will also be discussed.
To ensure the safety of all participants, we will be practicing social distancing and will have masks available. There is no fee to attend, but you must register in advance by calling 315-736-3394 ext. 132. Registrations allow the organizers to contact participants in the event of cancellations.
