We're still under the influence of the upper-level storm that brought a cool end to May and a cool beginning to June. Even thought it's loitering about offshore now, it'll help to keep clouds in place for the day, which will in turn keep our temperatures down.

From there, a warm up begins Wednesday with a few showers, followed by a fabulous Thursday, a potentially stormy Friday and a weekend that will cool off a bit while remaining nice and mild. No stinkin' 60s, in other words!

Today

Starting off with some clear spots on the satellite, it's a chilly morning for early June but not as chilly as yesterday morning. With any luck, the 30s are done for a while now!

Clouds will continue to fill in through this morning and for the afternoon, there will not be much sun. Showers remain in the forecast for later today, but the timing will be a little later than it looked Monday. So, most of the day will stay dry under a cloudy sky with showers developing later tonight, pushing through overnight. Highs today will once again top out mainly in the 60s, this time due to the clouds. It won't be as cool overnight with lows mainly in the 50s, a few upper 40s in the Adirondacks Mountains.

Wednesday

Those showers look to exit our area through the morning hours but some more transitions will happen through the day. We'll stay mostly cloudy through the morning with a few breaks of sun. Warmer air will return to us, at least for the southern half of our area, think from the Twin Bridges south. Areas to the north will stay cooler, in the 60s and low 70s while southern areas make a run at 80 degrees. More showers will develop and stay mainly confined to where the warmer temperatures are, especially from the Catskills Mountains across the Hudson Valley into the southern Berkshires Mountains. Once we get beyond sunset, those showers will dry up and move out, and the skies will begin to clear out overnight as lows fall to the 40s to middle 50s.

Thursday and Friday

Thursday is the pick of the week, easily. We'll have plenty of sunshine, comfortable levels of humidity with dewpoints in the 40s and low 50s, and highs in the upper 60s to 80. Clouds will roll in later in the evening and overnight, which will bring about a few more changes to our weather as we close the workweek. Lows overnight will bottom out in the upper 40s to 60 degrees.

Friday will build in some more heat and humidity ahead of a cold front that will slip through late in the day. The jury is still out as to how much humidity will show up, which matters for any bigger thunderstorm potential. We'll see how the next day's worth of model data shakes out. Regardless, we'll have at least some showers and a storm or 2 late in the day with the cold front on the move. It'll be a warmer day with highs in the 70s and lower 80s.

The weekend

Saturday will start off with a cold front pushing east. We will be mild and somewhat muggy to start the day, but the process of cooling and drying will commence as we get into the late morning and early afternoon. The day will start off in the 50s to middle 60s, but will only rise 15 degrees or so from there for the afternoon's highs.

Cooler air will make its way in for the evening into Sunday. Sunday looks to be a gorgeous day with morning temps in the 40s and 50s and afternoon temps in the 60s to middle 70s.

Have a great day!
