CMU Zyzelewski Family Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Goes Behind The Scenes With New Podcast - Central Michigan University Chippewas

krotoson.blogspot.com
Behind the scenes of Chippewa Athletics are students on personal journeys of perseverance and growth, supported by faculty and staff as they pursue their degrees and futures.

They are surrounded by alumni finding success the world over while remaining true to the Central Michigan University spirit. All continue a history that shows determination and compassion for others — values that set CMU apart.

Amy Folan, Central Michigan University's Zyzelewski Family Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics, is hosting a new podcast called CMU Athletics Connection. It is designed to showcase the student-athletes and alumni that represent the 126-year history of the program.

"These are the stories that inspire me every day, and they'll inspire you, too," Folan said. "While getting out among CMU Chippewa fans, alumni, faculty and staff was limited by a pandemic my first two years, I'm excited now to accelerate in-person connections. This podcast allows me to stay in touch and share exciting behind-the-scenes stories on a regular basis."

The first episode, released in late September, features three entrepreneurship majors:
  • Elly Medendorp, junior volleyball middle blocker from Alto, who's known for being self-driven and someday wants to open her own business.
  • Lew Nichols III, sophomore football running back from Detroit, who wants to own a training facility for athletes while also giving back to aspiring football players.
  • Daniel Richardson, sophomore football quarterback from Miami, Fla., who plans to run funeral homes and care for people during their time of grief.
Folan engages them in talking about why they chose CMU, their favorite experiences so far, which professor has impacted them the most, and about their career goals.

Through the Isabella Bank Institute for Entrepreneurship, they learn to launch new products and services, lead change in existing organizations and of course, launch their own businesses. CMU had the first entrepreneurship department of any university in Michigan.

The second episode — to be released the week of October 17 — will focus on the importance of mental health.

Folan's CMU Athletics Connection is available on the podcast page of the CMU Chippewas website (click on the "Fans" tab at the top of any page and then on "podcasts") and on Apple Podcasts.
