Jed Jacobsohn / Associated PressSan Francisco Giants fans and Los Angeles Dodgers fans had a touching moment of unity during Game 5 of the NLDS Thursday night in expressing their collective disdain for a Giants fan sitting behind home plate.
The fan, who was wearing a jersey, hat and necklace/chain of some sort, frequently came to his feet and waved his arms exuberantly. Such activity made him highly visible on the television broadcast, and social media users voiced their displeasure with his behavior.

"Not loving having the worst fan to have ever attended a baseball game sitting directly behind home plate tonight," tweeted Bay Area chef and Giants fan Richie Nakano.
"Can we all collectively jump through our screens and punch that Giants’ fan behind home plate? Repeatedly," asked a Dodgers fan.
"That Giants fan behind home plate standing up and wailing his arms during literally every pitch is the most annoying human being on the face of the earth," wrote another Twitter user. "Imagine buying tickets over a thousand dollars just to end up sitting behind THAT guy."
Some tickets behind home plate exceeded $3,000 earlier in the week.
The fan appeared to leave his seat sometime later in the game, sparking speculation that he had been removed by stadium security. As you can see in the two videos below, he was not in his usual spot (on the left of the screen) for the final at-bat of the game.
The Giants did not immediately respond to an SFGATE request for comment on if the fan's late-game absence was voluntary or not.
