Feed Albany started from a simple idea, to feed the people who would normally be working to feed customers, if not for the pandemic.
It is now a nonprofit operating out of a new permanent kitchen in Sheridan Hollow.
For the past 16 months, Feed Albany has been operating out of restaurants whose owners volunteered their spaces. Well, no longer. Those seeking a meal from them can go straight to 203 Sheridan Avenue.
Complete with an outfitted kitchen and preparation facility, Feed Albany's new location was acquired after it reached its fundraising goal of $100,000.
The co-founders credit their ability to raise the funds in such a short time to the generosity of various organizations and the community.
Having served more than 500,000 meals since the pandemic began, Feed Albany hopes that the kitchen will allow it to increase production from 1,500 weekly meals to 2,000.
