DENVER — It's a tough time for everyone amid the COVID-19 pandemic. But one faith based organization is partnering up with restaurants to help feed the homeless struggling the most.
Faith in Denver founder Brian Sanchez worked up a plan to help them and another struggling industry, restaurants.
The growing number of homeless in Denver means more need for help.
"There's a major need. One of the reasons I'm so adamant about helping our friends in need here his you have these tent cities all over downtown. And unfortunately, you don't see as much help as you did before covid," Sanchez said.
So Sanchez worked up a plan.
"I started reaching out to different restaurants around the city, saying, 'hey, this is what we're doing.' This is our cause to help feed our homeless friends," he said.
Ogden Street South is one of the restaurants that jumped in to help.
"The restaurant, the mom and pop industry -- it's tough," Fry said.
Even their own struggle to keep the doors open.
"We are under intense pressure. The rules seem to change arbitrarily on a regular basis. And we're just trying to survive," Fry said.
But even with an uncertain future, there is still the desire to help.
"It's the circle of life. Through the good times and the bad times, you got to help people," Fry said.
Even just a few sandwiches or hot meals go a long way.
"You gotta give back to society. And this out here was pretty eye-opening for me," Fry added.
Eye-opening, but needed to help feed the homeless. It's why Sanchez started doing it in the first place.
"Just treating them dignity. Letting them know they haven't been forgotten," Sanchez said.
