A heartfelt thank you to restaurants in Santa Cruz who reached out to help feed firefighters and emergency personnel at Regional 911 Center from Aug. 21-24.
The support of donated hot meals from Ideal Bar and Grill, Zelda’s and Holy Smokes BBQ brought smiles and a ton of gratitude.
Our local emergency responders were also extremely grateful for delicious food from Jeffrey’s, Taqueria Hacienda, Zoccoli’s, Pizza My Heart, and Joe’s Subs.
It’s important to acknowledge the wonderful things that happen in our town, especially with so much darkness and despair. As a volunteer, I was tasked with helping with logistics. Everyone was happy to help, even with the added inconvenience of packing individual boxes. The owner of Holy Smokes BBQ initiated the offer, greeting me with 100 hand decorated bags with warm wrapped sandwiches, cookies, fruit and water bottles. Santa Cruz Strong, we will get through this together.
