ATLANTA — An Atlanta police officer is working overtime to make sure no one goes hungry this Thanksgiving holiday.
Sergeant Shedarren Fanning, the president and CEO of the Atlanta-based non profit organization Badge to Family Outreach, held a turkey drive Saturday for numerous families across the city ahead of Thanksgiving.
“The Badge to Family Outreach turkey drive was amazing,” said Fanning. “We had multiple organizations pull together and help us sponsor over 200 turkeys and canned goods.”

The event, which was held in the parking lot of the C.T. Martin Natatorium and Recreation Center in southwest Atlanta, helped provide a special Thanksgiving meal for 150 families.
“It’s been a rough few years for most of us, not only financially, but emotionally,” he added.
“We need to help and uplift each other, especially in these trying times. When the community comes together for the greater good, everyone benefits from it. We love and care about our neighbors and want them to have a special holiday. "
Fanning said that the event would not have been possible without getting help from the community.
