WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI -- A free event will unite two Ypsilanti-area organizations with a goal of feeding thousands of people in need.
“Operation Feed 5,000″ will take place between 9 a.m. and noon Sunday. Oct. 17 at Fireman’s Park, 8795 MacArthur Blvd. in Superior Charter Township.
The event is the result of a partnership between the Lot G restaurant and the Circle of Brothers and Sisters nonprofit.
Attendees will receive free meal packages containing both breakfast and dinner portions, said Natasha Stewart, Lot G director of quality control.
“Since we’re located right in the heart of Ypsilanti, we were ecstatic about joining forces with this organization to give out some free food,” Stewart said.
The breakfast package, put together by Circle of Brothers and Sisters, will include portions of pancakes, sausage, eggs and hash browns. Lot G staff have compiled 100 dinner packages containing chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, fries and salads, Stewart said.
The partnership is equipped to feed up to 5,000 people, Stewart said -- an amount Circle of Brothers and Sisters chose based on the biblical story of Jesus feeding 5,000 with five loaves of bread and two fish.
