Justin Herbert threw for three touchdowns, Austin Ekeler had 145 total yards and two touchdowns, and the Los Angeles Chargers downed the Raiders 28-14 to hand Las Vegas its first loss of the season. The result puts both teams at 3-1 and leaves the Arizona Cardinals as the NFL's only undefeated team at 4-0.
Herbert, who often had to use the silent count amid a Raiders-heavy crowd in Los Angeles, threw for 222 yards and tossed all three touchdowns before halftime, as the Chargers led 21-0 at the break. He joined Lamar Jackson and Dan Marino as the only players in NFL history with at least six games with three-plus TD passes and no interceptions over his first two NFL seasons.
Ekeler racked up 117 yards and a touchdown on the ground, and he also caught a 14-yard TD from Herbert. It was the first 100-yard rushing game by a Charger since Ekeler had 101 yards on only eight carries against the Jaguars in December 2019.
Derek Carr, who entered averaging an NFL-high 401 passing yards per game, was held to 196 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.
After kickoff at SoFi Stadium — which has a roof but is open on the sides — was delayed about 40 minutes for lightning, the Raiders' offense sputtered in the first half. It recorded just one first down before halftime, tallying more penalty yards (53) than total yards (51) and punting five times. Las Vegas scored touchdowns on both of its third-quarter possessions before the rally fell short.
