SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - For more than a year, there’s been a warrant for his arrest. Now, a roofer is behind bars. It all started with an On Your Side Investigation.
Glenn Jessen turned himself in at the Greene County Jail. He faces 24 felony charges of deceptive business practice.
“We will use every means at our disposal within the law to track down him or any other wrongdoing and hold them accountable,” said Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey.
It turns out this wasn’t Jessen’s first time dealing with a state Attorney General. Before coming to Missouri, Jessen worked in Colorado. The Attorney General sued him there for not doing roof repairs for nearly five hundred customers and won a $6.5 million judgment.
Then he moved here. Customers hired Overland Roof Exchange and Midwest Roofing Commercial and Residential. Jessen’s name wasn’t on their contracts. The building for the business was empty. It’s a leased property. On Your Side received photos of the lease. It reads that the tenant is Glenn Jessen from Midwest Roofing.
Chris Tarnowieckyi’s father, Oktawian, wrote a check for more than $9,000, and no work was done. He’s one of the 24 customers mentioned in court records.
“To me, it seems he’s reached the ‘find out’ stage of life,” said Chris Tarnowieckyi about Jessen’s arrest. “That makes me a little happy.”
In total, customers reported a loss of nearly $150,000.
“It would be nice if my dad’s estate could reclaim the money, but that’s so far in the past and so unlikely, I’m not holding out hope for that,” he said.
Jessen has not entered a plea yet. He has no bond.
