TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Hundreds of people gathered to remember 24-year-old Alex Ryser from Tucson. He died March 11th while riding his motorcycle.
It happened on North Oracle Road and West Cresta Loma Drive. DPS says Ryser hit a truck that was attempting a left turn. He died at the scene.
To his friends, Alex Ryser was known as Sunny, and his family says if you started a conversation with him, you could see why.
“People are talking about what a great guy he was and how much he helped them,” Alex’s father Todd Ryser said. “He would drop everything to help them.”
Seeing hundreds of people show their support was a surprise.
“I’m very shocked,” Alex’s fiance Mia Valencia said. “I knew he knew a lot of people and I knew he was friends with a lot of people but I didn’t know that he made this much of an impact on everybody he knew.”
“This is incredible for us that this is going on,” Todd said. “That our son had that much of an impact on people.”
Alex’s family says he was a part of the car community and took his passion for riding seriously.
“He’d been driving for almost two years, he had had safety classes,” Alex’s mother Lori Ryser said. “He was very serious about being on the road and being safe.”
Many of Alex’s friends who showed up Saturday night were a part of that community with him.
“Everybody’s kind of like family in their own way,” Valencia said. “They’re really close to each other, they’ve really got each other’s back.”
Who all want to bring awareness to the danger they see on Tucson roads.
“It’s not safe here,” Lori said. “It’s not safe.”
