Charles Leclerc has revealed hidden issues that led to what was perceived as attitude towards his Ferrari team during the Hungarian Grand Prix.
A number of frantic-sounding radio messages were relayed between driver and pit wall during the 70-lap event at the Hungaroring which saw Leclerc finish seventh.
His finishing position was affected by strategic indecision, a 9.4-second first pit stop and a five-second time penalty for speeding in the pit lane at his second stop.
Responding to questions over his radio attitude, Leclerc told media including RacingNews365: "We had a lot of problems with the radio and one out of four words is not understood by the engineer, because there's just been problems with the radio for three or four races.
"We need to fix that.
"My tone of voice is quite high because I need to make myself heard. I wanted to make sure they didn't hear me wrong and that I wanted to be aggressive early and not aggressive late.
"So it was just about clarifying because of our radio issue."
Water issue
Matters were made no easier by a lack of hydration for Leclerc on the hottest day of the weekend as an issue with his drinks system hit pre-race.
Explaining the issue, the Monégasque said: "I had no water.
"Just before the start, I realised the tube was short, so I couldn't reach the water - it was really frustrating."
