Dua Lipa has shared another behind-the-scenes peek from Barbieland.
Today, the pop star revealed some never-before-seen rehearsal footage from Barbie, in a post celebrating her soundtrack song, "Dance the Night," as the single hit the Top 5 on the U.K. charts. Along with a sentimental caption about the process of creating the track, Lipa shared a compilation clip with dance footage from the record-breaking movie's rehearsals, as well as a portion of the the completed dance scene.
The video begins with a clip of stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling practicing their solo parts in the "Dance the Night" and "I'm Just Ken" sequences while wearing all-black ensembles, before showing footage of backup dancers for the party scene and part of the end performance.
"The first thing I saw from the Barbie movie when @iammarkronson asked me to write the song for the big dance scene in the film was the cast dance rehearsals," Lipa explained in the caption. "We then set off with the plan to write a song based on Barbie’s inner thoughts in that very moment on the basis of what was to come next in her story and on the premise of the whole film."
She continued, "Fast forward to seeing the song we wrote together alongside @wyattish and @carolineailin come to life on the big screen was a very surreal moment for me. The song no longer felt like it belonged to me but belonged to Barbie and her perfect/imperfect self. I’m so grateful to all of you dancing at home with us and for Greta and Mark for trusting me with this task!!! Send me your videos of you dancing the night away!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖"
Last weekend, the singer marked Barbie's opening weekend by sharing a candid group pic from the film's Los Angeles premiere. In the snap, Lipa, Robbie, Gosling, Kate McKinnon, America Ferrera, Issa Rae and several other cast members smile while taking a mirror selfie in what appears to be a restroom at LA's Shrine Auditorium.
