Another metro charity is answering the call to help Hurricane Ida victims in Louisiana.
Five Feed the Children semi-trucks left at 8 a.m. Friday morning, carrying critical supplies including food, cleaning products and bottled water to the hardest hit cities.
In times like these, Feed the Children officials said working with their partners down in Louisiana is critical to assess what the needs are for residents.
Trucks leaving Friday will also deliver face masks, laundry detergent and kids’ disaster kits which have toys and a coloring book that helps with counseling.
"These aren't going to be resources or commodities that will expire too much,” Feed the Children director of disaster services John Ricketts said. “We put a good shelf life on those as much as possible, to make sure families can use them at their leisure.”
Feed the Children said they have specific locations they are looking to help. They're planning stops in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Houma.
These trucks are expected to arrive by noon Friday.
