Throughout his campaign, Joe Biden projected a moderate image focused on “uniting” America and rejecting the extreme ideology of his fellow Democrats.
Unfortunately, his first few weeks in office have proven that those words were just political fodder, and that Joe Biden is focused on achieving the same far-left policy goals that Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren would’ve pushed had they won.
Biden decided to flex his power by signing more than 42 Executive Orders early on, even though his party controlled both houses of Congress. His decision to revoke the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline will cost 11,000 workers their jobs, during a worldwide pandemic that has already cost too many people their livelihoods and paychecks.
It’ll also cost the U.S. billions of dollars in investments. This rash decision only benefits Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries that have fewer environmental standards.
Days later, Biden signed another order that has broad reaching and negative impacts on many Western states. The Biden Administration’s moratorium on new leases for oil and gas production on federal lands will end up costing Coloradans, and many other states, a huge amount of revenue, jobs and investment that many local communities rely on.
In fact, a recent study conducted by the Wyoming Energy Authority found that a leasing ban on federal lands would cost Colorado “$6.6 billion in lost economic output” by 2040, and hundreds of millions in tax revenue.
Sadly, Biden and his team do not seem to care about the real-life implications of their decisions. Biden’s White House climate czar, and private jet owner, John Kerry coldly stated that those who lost their jobs in the oil and gas industry should simply “go to work to make solar panels.”
How unplugged from reality can they possibly be? Last I checked, not a lot of rural Coloradans want to move to China and make solar panels.
In Colorado, we have already seen the negative impacts of our liberal leadership on the local level. A recent study found that Colorado came in nearly “dead last” when comparing which state economies are bouncing back the most during the COVID-19 pandemic. Colorado’s unemployment rate has climbed up to 8.4%, way above neighboring states, and hundreds of thousands of Coloradans are currently unemployed.
The failed leadership in Colorado underscores why our state needs common sense leaders in the decision-making room to advocate and deliver results for everyday Coloradans.
President Biden’s first few weeks on the job have clearly been about rewarding liberal donors and trying to bring the failed Obama Administration policies back to life. Biden’s decision to destroy the oil and gas industry will only help foreign energy producers, cost jobs here at home, lose billions in critical tax revenue, and raise energy costs on hardworking families.
As Colorado braces for the impact of more liberal policies, it’s clear that come 2022 Coloradans from across our state will be looking to new leadership to bring our economy, jobs, and state back to life.
