FRAMINGHAM – Food programs at the United Way of Tri-County (UWTC) are anticipating a record number of individuals and families seeking food assistance this holiday season, as many are still struggling to get back on their feet amid the pandemic.

But food pantries everywhere are facing additional challenges this year, mainly the lack of supplies.

“2021 is turning out to be even more difficult than 2020”, said Paul Mina, President & CEO at United Way of Tri-County. “We are struggling to get enough food for our clients this holiday. Everywhere we go, food items are running dangerously low. We’re hoping the community can help.”

“For every $1 a person donates to the United Way’s Feed-A-Family program, we can purchase $4 worth of food. That goes a long way when you’re providing a turkey and Thanksgiving groceries to so many local families,” Mina said.

United Way of Tri-County’s three food pantries and two hot meal programs serving the MetroWest/495 Corridor are making plans to feed those in need throughout the holiday season.

These are folks who might otherwise go hungry on Thanksgiving. At a time when many people are focused on giving thanks for the bounty in their lives, others are feeling the pain of need.

In addition to providing regular groceries, United Way of Tri-County has a goal to give 3,000 families a special holiday meal through their Feed-A-Family campaign. Every $50 contribution will provide a family of four with a Thanksgiving feast that includes: a turkey, potatoes, gravy, fresh seasonal vegetables, fresh fruit, and delicious pies, so community members have everything they need to make treasured holiday memories with their families at home.

To donate online, visit the United Way’s website at www.uwotc.org/feed or text “FEED” to 91999.

Donors also have the option to mail a check made payable to the United Way of Tri-County, Feed-A-Family, 46 Park Street, Framingham, MA 01702.

In this year of many challenges, we hope that you will join the United Way in making a difference in the lives of those who are struggling and help make their holiday one to enjoy.
Please donate as generously as possible and help bring food to the table to those less fortunate. What better way to celebrate the holiday than to help our neighbors in need.
