NAPLES, Fla. – Jeffery Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell brutally raped and abused a woman in front of her 8-year-old son in 2008 at a hotel in Naples, Florida, according to a new lawsuit.
The woman, who is going by “Jane Doe,” alleges that for five months the American financier raped and abused her and trafficked her to other men, including a local judge, the lawsuit states. He also reportedly forced her to undergo genital mutilating surgery and to participate in the trafficking of other victims.
The lawsuit was filed on March 22 — the woman is being represented by two law offices: Phillips & Paolicelli out of New York and Miami-based law firm Coffey Burlington. The complaint is against Indyke and Kahn who are co-executors of Epstein’s estate.
The Timeline
Jane Doe, who was 26 at the time, was working in Palm Beach as a real estate broker when she met Epstein and Maxwell at her employer’s BBQ in 2006 or 2007. Her boss told her Epstein was interested in renting a property on a cash-only basis. He went on to rent a place for $10,000 a month, according to the complaint.
In 2007, Maxwell gave the woman her personal cell phone number and told her Epstein would like to employ her. According to the complaint, the woman is a skilled hairstylist. While not interested at first, the woman said Maxwell began grooming her with promises of high-up jobs and expensive gifts.
In mid-January, Jane Doe went to Epstein’s Palm Beach Estate to cut his hair. When she arrived, he was completely naked. He proceeded to brutally rape her with Maxwell’s help, according to the complaint. During the assault, guns were out on display to intimidate her, the lawsuit alleges.
After the attack, Epstein forced her to except $200. Traumatized, the woman threatened to call the police — but Maxwell said she would call them herself. Shortly after, men who claimed to be officers arrived and threatened to arrest Jane Doe for prostitution. They also said they could have officials deport her or take her son away.
The woman said she refrained from ever contacting law enforcement again because she was so afraid of what would happen.
Naples Hotel Assault
Immediately after the Palm Beach Estate attack, Maxwell and Epstein forced her drive with them to Naples, and they picked up her son on the way.
While en route, she could not stopped crying. Epstein pulled the car over near a large body of water filled with alligators. He shuffled her near the water and told her that like other girls in the past, alligators would devour her if she ever revealed his crimes, the lawsuit states.
Once they got to the Naples hotel, Maxwell and Epstein allegedly raped and abused her in front of her son for several days.
Between January and May of 2008, both Epstein and Maxwell continued to abuse and sex-traffic her using threats and coercion, according to the complaint.
Five Months From Hell
Over the next several months, Epstein wielded control over Jane Doe’s life and threatened her by saying he had corrupt influence over the Federal Bureau of Investigation [FBI], the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE] Florida state and local law enforcement and influential people, the complaint states.
During that same time period, Epstein raped, sexually abused, physically assaulted and trafficked her, according to the lawsuit.
In early May of 2008, in what the lawsuit labeled a “particularly appalling act of savagery,” A man with a Russian accent took Jane Doe to a wealthy person’s home for an unwanted vaginal tightening surgery, according to the complaint.
The purpose was to create the false impression she was a virgin for a high-profile client, the complaint states. Epstein also told her to pretend she was 17 years old because she had a younger appearance.
Jane Doe also said she was forced to drive young girls to places where she believes they were being sex-trafficked. She was often left with burner phones, wires, and other devices to evade law enforcement, according to the complaint.
The Aftermath
Jane Doe said she spent years living in fear after Epstein and Maxwell’s abuse.
According to the lawsuit, she has continued to feel victimized knowing that there could be naked pictures of her that Epstein took. She is also permanently maimed from the botched genital mutilation surgery, the complaint states.
It wasn’t until his death by apparent suicide in 2019 that she said she felt safer to report his crimes to authorities, the complaint states. She told lawyers she isn’t someone who keeps up with the news, so she missed much of the widely-covered Epstein scandal when it broke.
When she realized he was really gone, she decided to come forward. She said she still fears that Epstein’s cronies could come after her.
Jane Doe filed to remain anonymous due to the alleged atrocities committed against her — and the fact that the case is extremely publicized, court documents show.
She is demanding a trial by jury for what she suffered during those five months. Jane Doe is likely only one out of hundreds [if not thousands] of women to be victimized and trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein.
