LOVES PARK (WREX) — A group in Loves Park is helping feed families in a different part of the world.
Officials at Slavic Gospel Association say the group has provided two million meals to feed at least 20,000 people in Russia and the former Soviet Union. With COVID-19 spreading through the region, the group says many people are struggling to put food on the table. So it has raised money to help distribute food to those in need.
"People are in great despair," said Slavic Gospel Association President Michael Johnson. "Many people are on the verge of suicide. Many people have committed suicide. They have no means of support. The economies have collapsed. And when these people show up with food, they're just so blessed."
The Slavic Gospel Association is accepting donations. To learn more about the group, click here.
