1. How long have you owned your business? Three and a half years. Before this, I worked for the Coleman Schools, drove a school bus.

2. What inspired you to own this business? I think the need in the community. There was no place to get beef feed or chicken feed in Coleman. People had to go to Clare.

3. What makes Coleman a great place to own a business? The people. We’ve had overwhelming support. Can’t do it without all the people.

4. What are some ways your business is active in the community? 4-H & FFA (Future Farmers of America). We do a lot of donations through the school and their programs.

5.What are some of your interests and hobbies? I enjoy spending time with my family. We have a small hobby farm. Horses, raise our own beef, pork and chickens. Also have a couple of goats. Also like doing my garden.

6. What are some local businesses you work with that help make your business a success? The school -- we work with the FFA-Agriscience program. Also work with Kalmbach Feeds out of Breckenridge and Kalmbach out of Ohio on formulating our own blends of feeds. I like having a house recipe, it’s kind of fun.

7. Other thoughts? With the feed part of the business, I can’t do it without the support of the local people. I put up a sign shortly after we opened. It reads "Enter as strangers, leave as friends.” It’s held true. You just get very involved with the people, whether it’s with their livestock, their program or their family. You become a closer-knit community.
