YORK, Pa.—In partnership with PepsiCo, Hormel and Martin’s Snacks, Rutter’s, the 72-store convenience chain, will give frontline workers a free “grab & go” meal, plus make a $10,000-plus donation to charity, on July 24.

Rutter’s is one of the NACS retailer members participating in the NACS Foundation’s 2020 24/7 Day. The second annual 24/7 Day unites convenience and fuel retailers across America through their shared commitment to honor first responders, medical personnel and American Red Cross volunteers who work around the clock, 24/7, serving our communities to ensure people don’t face emergencies alone. The annual event helps raise awareness and donations for the urgent humanitarian needs of the American Red Cross and spotlights the industry’s critical role in supporting local heroes and the communities we serve.

According to a Rutter’s news release, the company wants to say “thank you” to those essential employees who are on the frontline around the clock. The meal includes a sandwich or wrap, a bag of chips and a regular fountain drink and is available at any Rutter’s location in Pennsylvania, Maryland or West Virginia. The offer is available to first responders in uniform, medical or active duty military with ID and Rutter’s store employees.

Rutter’s has partnered with the American Red Cross for the month of July and will be collecting money through its charity cannister program to help support local Red Cross initiatives. Customers may make monetary donations to the Red Cross at any Rutter’s location. In addition, from July 18 through 23, Rutter’s plans to give away $1,000 each day to different local charities that support first responders, and on July 24, the donation will be $5,000.

“Rutter’s is proud to support our frontline workers, including our fantastic store employees, during these challenging times,” said Scott Hartman, president and CEO. “Being able to support the frontline and give back to our communities through the Red Cross and Rutter’s Children’s Charities is needed right now, and we’re happy we can help.”
