The nonprofit organization Raising Arrows, is back in full swing with the summer feeding program this week, after being closed a couple of weeks.
According to Nicole Brackett, administrative director for Raising Arrows, the organization has changed a few of the food pickup locations around Walker County.
The food program will remain in effect throughout the summer until further notice, or as long as the schools are shut down.
Food is available with drive-through service only. Workers will place food in the trunk or back of the vehicles. All worker will wear a mask and gloves to help protect everyone involved. Meals cannot be eaten on-site.
Meals can be picked up Monday through Friday beginning at 11:30 a.m. until supplies last at the following distribution locations:
• Carbon Hill Community Center, located at 229 SW 2nd Street.
• Cordova City Hall, located at 154 Main Street.
• Curry High School, located at 155 Yellow Jacket Dr.
• Dora and Sumiton at Sumiton Community/Senior Center, located at 193 Bryan Road.
• Oakman Senior Center, located at 8250 Oakman Parrish Road.
• T.R. Simmons Elementary School 110 17th Street W. in Jasper .
• Jasper Housing Authority, located at 1005 Highway 69.
• Sipsey Community Center, located at 3775 Sipsey Road.
Raising Arrows is a nonprofit, non-religious organization, partnered with municipalities, churches, businesses, and Walker County as well as Jasper City Schools to provide hot meals each day for families in communities in Jasper and around the county.
Due to the food donations given by the county and city schools along with the partnerships, Raising Arrows can provide a hot meal each day at different distributions sites throughout Walker County.
Monetary donations to support the feeding program can be made to Raising Arrows, which will support the nonprofit in purchasing food and equipment in this effort. To donate online, go to www.myraisingarrows.com and click the donate now button. You may pay by Venmo, or checks may be mailed to Raising Arrows, 589 Hwy 78 West, Jasper, AL 35501.
