More restaurants are getting creative — and philanthropic — to stay busy during the pandemic.
Cibo e Vino (89th & Broadway / www.ciboevinony.com) and Marlow Bistro (110th & Amsterdam / www.marlowbistro.com), which have the same ownership, have started a Feed the UWS donation program. They are delivering meals every day to frontline responders at Mount Sinai Morningside on 113th. The donation info is on their websites.
One of the workers at the hospital, who had contracted Covid, said that the penne they delivered was “one of the first things I tasted in over 30 days.” (One symptom of the disease for some people is the loss of taste and smell.)
Other local restaurants are also feeding workers, with Tarallucci e Vino starting a growing program called Feed the Frontlines to donate meals.
Marlow nd Cibo e Vino are also feeding officers at the 20th and 24th Precincts, firefighters at FDNY Battalion 11 (Engine 76/Tower 22) on West 100th Street and Engine 74 on West 83rd Street, and postal workers at USPS Station on 104th Street.
The restaurants are now starting a daily meal donation delivery program for the elderly on the Upper West Side where New Yorkers can register an elderly family member or friend via email (ciboevinony@gmail.com and marlowbistro@gmail.com).
And both restaurants are also matching 50% of all gift card purchases to their donation efforts (the gift cards, which do not expire, can be used immediately for delivery or pick up, or future visits once they are permitted to have seating inside or on their patios).
