GRAND RAPIDS — Right now, supporting your favorite small business can, in turn, feed a local family or frontline worker.
The Downtown Market in Grand Rapids created thew aptly-named Feed the Family, Feed the Frontline program.
It started in May. Basically, you make a donation to one of the restaurants or merchants inside the Downtown Market. But, the effects of your donation are two-fold.
First, the Downtown Market will find and feed a local family in need or a frontline worker. Plus, your donation will help keep a local small business, like the Juju Bird chicken joint, open and retaining it's employees.
"A $15 donation will feed one frontline worker and a $60 donation will feed a family of four," owner Yang Hang explained. "I hope that they know that through all this, that we're still here, the community as a whole, we're still here for them."
Your donation is tax-deductible.
