Colorado Democrats line up behind Nancy Pelosi for House speaker - The Denver Post

Colorado’s four Democrats in the U.S. House voted Sunday to elect Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the House for another term, voicing none of the misgivings that led half of them to balk at Pelosi’s election to that top post two years ago.

The California Democrat was elected narrowly by a vote of 216-209.

In early 2019, Rep. Jason Crow, an Aurora Democrat, declined to vote for Pelosi, upholding a promise he had made while campaigning the year before. Crow said then that new blood was needed within Democratic leadership.

And Rep. Ed Perlmutter, an Arvada Democrat, was among several House Democrats that pushed back against Pelosi, but struck a compromise with her before the vote and ultimately helped elect Pelosi in January 2019.

On Sunday, Crow and Perlmutter both voted for Pelosi, as did Denver Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette and Rep. Joe Neguse, a Lafayette Democrat.

The state’s three House Republicans — Reps. Ken Buck, Doug Lamborn and Lauren Boebert, the latter of whom was sworn into office Sunday — voted for Kevin McCarthy, the House minority leader, to be speaker. But Pelosi won out.
